Description

(CSCC II Hands-on Labs, VIRTUAL Only)

The Certified Canine Strength and Conditioning Coach Program

Provides the participant with hands-on experience in which participants will be guided through a standardized canine posture assessment, exercise form, and program design with live dogs.  Hands-on experiences for selected equipment used in canine fitness and conditioning are incorporated including balance, strength, cardio, flexibility, and mental foundation elements. This course also provides the participant with the basic fitness assessment skills necessary to create an exercise program for dogs. Topics covered include basic exercise physiology, dog training, gait training, strengthening exercises, balance and proprioceptive exercises, and exercises for wellness/prevention.

During the lab each student will demonstrate that they understand concepts learned in the online portion of the course.   Students will demonstrate exercises with their dog or a dog that is provided.  Students will also participate in a mock class to practice the concepts learned in the online environment.   Preparing for and teaching in person and online private lessons will be demonstrated.

Two weeks after the lab, the instructors will provide a coaching call to answer questions to help you successfully complete the three case studies.

  • Demonstrate and practice the following;
    • Understanding of correct exercise form
    • Ability to train desired exercises and movements
    • Foundation exercises
    • Understanding of evaluating posture
    • Understanding of how to choose correct exercises for the dog
    • Knowledge of reps, sets, and exercise variables
  • Teach Mock group classes and/or private lesson (even online students can do this) students to give instructions on how to teach the exercise, what to look for to achieve correct form etc.
