Reports to Clinical Coordinator

Overall Responsibility:

The Rehabilitation technician must be outgoing, be able to work independently, possess excellent communication skills, and make use of all available time. They must have good organizational skills and the ability to perform and work proficiently in a wide variety of daily situations. They must also be able to work with every department in the hospital.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Patient Care

  • Ensuring the patient remains clean and comfortable while in the care of RBVH
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation and pain management therapies and treatments
  • Aseptic knowledge of exposure to: a. potential caustic agents b. cleaning products  c. zoonotic diseases

Technical Skills

  • Assist the physical rehabilitation doctor
  • Safely perform physical rehabilitation treatments including cryotherapy, thermotherapy, electrical stimulation, exercises, massage therapy, and treadmill therapy as outlined by the physical rehabilitation doctor
  • Be able to evaluate pain and recognize any changes in behavior, condition, mentation, and overall status before, during, and after treatments, bringing any changes to the attention of the physical rehabilitation doctor
  • Communicate professionally with clients at appointments, discharges, and on the phone
  • Discuss home care and treatment plans with clients
  • Handle and administer controlled substances
  • Administration and knowledge of analgesic and anesthetic therapy to include opiates, non-steroidal medication, and inhalation anesthesia
  • Document all patient treatments, client communications, and communications with staff members on the computer in the medical record
  • Stocking and maintaining the exam and rehabilitation rooms
  • Cleaning and maintaining all the equipment
  • Cleaning and maintaining the water treadmill
  • Assist in other departments in the hospital as needed during down time

  • Stocking and maintaining the exam and rehabilitation rooms

Physical Requirements (if any): This job is physically active and requires frequent bending. It also requires routine lifting and restraining of animals in excess of 15 pounds.

Years of Experience Required: 2-3 years of experience. Experience in rehabilitation preferred but not required.

Educational Requirements: CVT preferred but not required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Full Time (Multiple departmental roles available)
    • Credentialed Technicians: $27- $31/hr. based on experience
    • Non-Credentialed Technicians: $22- $26/hr. based on experience
