We are a busy rehab department with a constant flow of referrals from our in-house specialists as well as from local general practitioners. We strive to make every rehab session a positive and productive experience for our patients and their families. Our customized rehabilitation programs are tailored to the needs and specific goals of each patient and may include hydrotherapy, therapeutic modalities, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and a home exercise program.

We work with patients with a variety of conditions, including:

  • Post-op recovery following orthopedic and neurologic surgeries
  • Conservative management of orthopedic and neurologic diseases
  • Mobility and quality of life concerns for seniors
  • Weight loss and physical fitness
  • Congenital defects
  • Injuries unique to life in a coastal community (e.g. incidents involving golf carts, boat propellers, and even alligators!)

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting initial physical rehabilitation evaluations for new patients (both in-house and external referrals)
  • Creating an individualized physical rehabilitation program for each patient
  • Overseeing and participating in rehab sessions (leading patients through therapeutic exercises; safely using various modalities such as therapeutic laser, ESWT, TENS/NMES, thermotherapy; performing basic manual therapy)
  • Designing a custom Home Exercise Program (HEP) for rehab patients
  • Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records
  • Communicating effectively with referring veterinarians and clients
  • Supervision and instruction of rehab assistants

Job Qualifications:

  • Veterinary Technician License (SC or ability to transfer)
  • Certified in Canine Rehabilitation (will also consider applicants working towards certification)
  • Must love working with small companion animals (dogs & cats)
  • Experience with proper animal handling and restraint
  • Empathic towards patients and clients
  • Positive attitude and motivated to learn
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to work well within in small team environment
  • Willingness to supervise and delegate certain tasks to rehab assistants
  • Must be reliable
  • Must be dependable
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, safely and according to OSHA guidelines
  • Experience with underwater treadmill maintenance preferred, but not required
